Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon.
  2. Add the diced onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
  3. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, and cayenne pepper, and cook for 1-2 minutes to toast the spices.
  4. Add the tomato sauce and water, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately or use as a filling for tacos, burritos, or nachos.
