Ingredients

For the Cake

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs

For the Frosting

  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Topping

  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup chopped peanuts (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Cake

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.

Make the Frosting

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the peanut butter and softened butter until creamy.
